Lisa & Shelley Europe 200, First Stop: Prague

(This is incomplete - way more to do)
After years of wishing, I finally took my first 2 week long
vacation in July of 2006. It starts out in Prague where I spent a couple days by myself until my friend Shelley arrived.

Shelley left behind her husband and 5 kids to join me on this adventure. Enjoy the ride as I attempt to document our experiences.

Not since my first plane ride have I taken pictures from the plane. The excitement of arriving in Prague made me do it.

One of my favorite things was getting up early and
running through the streets of whatever city we were staying in. Self Portrait on the ancient and famous Charles Bridge.

Charles Brigde

Views of one of the many statues on the bridge the Prague Castle compound with the church spires is in the distance. A rare early morning view with virtually no tourists. The bridge is open to pedestrians only. During the summer afternoons countless artists, musicians and vendors line the sides, while way too many tourists meaner by. Another view of one end of the bridge.

Unusual House Numbers

Once upon a time homes did not have house numbers, but used these beautiful decorations to distinguish their homes.

Second Day: A Long Walk Alone, the begining

I took a 10 hour walk (I never sat down, not even once) all over the city and I mean all over. I could barely walk the next day, but it was worth the experience. Views from the XXX Park. There were go cart races, memorials to the victims of connunism, and an entrance to a monesatary??.

King Wenceslas Statue and upside down version

And the dancing buildings after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

Grounds from the first Prague Castle Area

This was one of my favorite places. Little known and of course I found a cool cemetery, beautiful church door. Great views from this fortress.

Also, the funeral scene from Amadeus was filmed under the arch below.

More spots from the fortress and me at there too.
